Meet Dustin and Aubri, My bother in law and soon to be sister in law. I was flattered when they asked me to shoot their engagement photos. They were such naturals in front of the camera. I know they doubted themselves in the beginning but quickly turned into models! I love you guys and I can’t wait to have another sister!Dustin has some mad po-go skills that may or may not have included po-going off of my in-laws house into the pool.He’s also got some mad engagement skills… He asked Aubri to marry him by cutting out a hole in the pages of an old book (they are both lovers of classic literature) and popping the ring box into the hole! So thoughtful!Aubri brought Dustin this little guitar from a trip to Hawaii (LUCKY!).

I enjoyed our evening! Like I said I not only call you guys family, but also friends. I’m excited to see what’s in store for you and can’t wait for the wedding! Love y’all!

Dear Audrey,

When did you learn to pedal bike? Mommy can’t handle all of this growing up that you are doing. The pedaling, the pottying in the big girl potty, the giving up the whole passy thing, and all of this begging for a big girl bed is just way too much for me. Will you slow down alot just a little so I can enjoy you being two for a few more months?

(I know that photo isn’t great but when she started pedaling I ran inside very quickly to grab my camera and guessed on the settings as I was running out the door. She has PCS (Photographer’s Child Syndrome), remember? Now she will flat out ignore me when the camera is out.)

While I was working on these photos a rush of memories came to me… I’m friends with Mackenzie’s (super proud) Aunt Kikee (pronounced: kick-ee. She’s actually Kristi but you know when a baby says your name like that, it just has to stick) and I can remember the day her mom found out she was pregnant with this sweet girl. Then, on her birthday I called and texted for hourly updates on her grand entrance into the world. I can also remember holding her in the hospital when she was just about 48 hours old and wondering if I would get that warm and fuzzy feeling with my own child that I got when snuggling with her and if I would think my baby was as beautiful as she was. Because she is such a natural beauty. She is sugar and spice. My daughter often reminds me of the stories I heard about Mackenzie in her toddler years. Now that she’s a big girl, I can’t wait to see how she grows and matures into a little lady.

Mackenzie, you were a delight. I hope you were able to pick out some really fabulous junk trinkets at the dollar store (one of her FAVORITE places) and I sure hope Aunt Kikee took you and to get a HUGE scoop of ice cream! You deserve it!

This sweet little munchkin was so patient with us, and the prop changes, different positions, poky feathers, and *me* allll up in her face. She was a dream and I really enjoyed the opportunity to photograph sweet, squishy, Olivia.Ummm…. Hi. My name is Emily and I think I am TOTALLY ADDICTED to pouty newborn lips.

Such a sweet little girl and a great mommy! We laughed so hard while carrying the LARGE ottoman all over tarnation (yup- not a real word )and back. I’m thinking it was wellll worth it. Love that she was so comfortable with me by the end… We might even be buddies.

I cannot believe it’s been a year (almost to the date) that I first photographed sweet Avery Kate. I’ve spent the last year having a blast getting to know she and her fur sister, Daisy Mae, and her Mommy and Daddy.

Our session was on one of those Sunday afternoons where the wind was whipping around so hard that our hair was sticking to our lip gloss and the random piece of paper was flying by but Avery did so well hanging out with her puppy and letting me chase her.

Thanks Chris, April, Avery and Daisey Mae for a wonderful afternoon! You guys rock.

I cannot believe she’s already graduating… Seriously. It was crazy when my friends’ younger siblings started growing up. But now the little bitty ones, too?? I had a few friends who had much younger siblings (like, a few of them I think I carried around on my hip and one I even remember the day she was born!) and now they are graduating and growing up. I can’t remember exactly how old Heather was when her big sister Holly and I became friends, but we think she was about 4. Ummm… Hello?! Not a little kid anymore!

Heather, you have grown into a beautiful young lady. I didn’t expect any less with such a fabulous family. ;) I enjoyed our time together and I wish you all the best with the amazing things God has planned for your exciting future!!

oh. my. goodness…

That’s all I can say about sweet, squishy little Piper. She was an absolute doll to work with and her mommy and daddy were a delight, too! She was so content sleeping on my props and she didn’t even do the normal “newborn” thing and potty on my blankets! Couldn’t decide between these two… The both make my heart sing.

Thank you Piper, Taylor and Chris for a wonderfully, peaceful morning. It was nice to meet so early in the morning. I guess what they say is true… The early bird gets the worm.
